About

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, receiving my Masters in Counseling in March of 2009 and LPCI in 2009, LPC in 2011. I have completed 15 years in private practice.

I named my practice "The Journey Home", because life sometimes leaves us with a heartfelt longing for home,.....that safe place within us that settles our mind and calms our fears. I offer help to women experiencing depression, anxiety, abuse, grief, personality disorders, emotional problems and mental illness. After raising three children who are now navigating independence, and after owning a specialty restaurant, life experiences and the desire to give back to the community offering emotional support to women and girls prompted a career change. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I am able to provide that support.

Depression, anxiety, grief, personality disorders, mental illness, abuse, emotional problems, etc. are not unique women and girls. But I have chosen to focus on these emotional and psychological issues as they relate specifically to women and girls and their life issues.

Because of my focus on women's issues, couples counseling has become a focus as well. Many women find themselves in relationships that need a bit of help and encouragement. I do see couples, first focusing on the issues of each individual and how those issues may dictate much of the relationship.

I received my B.S. from Appalachian State University in Boone, N. C. in 1975, and my Masters in Counseling from Webster University in Greenville, S.C. in 2009. Because I have been called into this profession of service by life experiences, and at a later stage in life, I bring a unique and positive perspective to my ability to relate to my clients and their own life experiences.

I am a provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Tricare. I can also provide you with a super bill to file to your own insurance if I am out of network. You may have out of network benefits allowing you to file for reimbursement.
Self pay is always an option.
