About

Psychologist Viktor Frankl emphasized the need to create and find meaning in life, and that there is even a meaning in suffering. He explained that when there is a void of meaning in life that the empty space acts as a vacuum and will become filled with anxiety, depression, and addiction. Are you living a life that has little meaning? Have you updated and considered what commitments motivate you and align to your values? Are you self-medicating or avoiding?

A key component to overcoming grief, depression, shame, addiction, and anxiety is filling up that space with reasons to get up in the morning, getting motivated, and crowding out ineffective behavior and negative and anxious self-talk.

It’s time to create your meaning and set a course for your new normal. The good news is that there’s hope and a way to live despite tragedy and bumps along life’s journey.

The first and most difficult step is to admit that your current attempts to cope and manage your grief, trauma, role demands, an unsatisfying marriage, or prenatal or postpartum stress aren’t working.

The next step is to take action. Working with a therapist who has experience helping those who struggle with grief, trauma, caregiver demands, postpartum depression and anxiety, and relational issues is that next step.

If you feel stuck in life, know that you don't have to go it alone. I am ready to be your therapist on the journey.

Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

As a graduate in Pastoral Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Christian, I feel it is important to be able to address and assess Christian clients spiritual and religious concerns, development, strengths, coping strategies, and distortions. My goal as a Christian counselor, who is oriented in Existential Therapy, EMDR, and Christian Faith-Based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, is to help clients assess their meaning and purpose beyond just "symptom reduction," and find meaning and motivation to heal and grow.

I am a Catholic convert who was raised Greek Orthodox Christian who has always been interested in learning about theology and philosophy. In my young adulthood, I have had several difficult life experiences such as caregiving, illness, and widowhood like many of you, which rekindled and strengthened my devotion to God and desire to support others. Because of my desire to support bereaved adults and caregivers in particular, I feel that Christian-Based therapy, which emphasizes Christian faith, practices, values, and acceptance for what one cannot control and understand in our limited finite being, is helpful for clients who struggle with their faith, creating and redefining new meanings post-loss, and so forth.

Licensed Professional Counselor
My personal journey with spousal caregiving and young widowhood following a September 2004 cancer diagnosis and February 2006 death of my first husband eventually led me to seek to change careers to become a counselor. I love helping individuals and couples by helping them to build meaning, acceptance, and self-worth despite grief, past traumatic life experiences, shame, and problematic behavior, symptoms, and relationship patterns.

Since September 2020, I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a solo private-practice supporting clients in Virginia and now Florida. From September 2016 to 2020, I worked under the supervision of Thomas F. Lamp, LPC (VA #0701004499), at New Directions Counseling Group, in Falls Church, VA. In August 2016, I earned a Master’s of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling from Marymount University and earned the Outstanding Scholar award for 2016. My Bachelor’s degree is in Psychology from Brandeis University. I am a professing and practic
