About
Courageous Hearts Counseling is a faith based, clinically sound, safe haven dedicated to coming alongside men and women as they bravely enter their stories and the wounds they have experienced, the self-protective responses they have developed to survive, and to discover new ways to love and be loved.
We use a core attachment theory that just as relationships can harm, they can heal as well. Drawing on evidenced based, holistic therapies such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive-Behavioral, Body Trust®, and Narrative, we gently come alongside individuals on their healing path.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
In 2003, I was asked to create a biblically based women’s support group for Eating Disorders in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was here, the name Courageous Hearts was born. I fell in love with facilitating groups as I witnessed the healing power that occurred. These experiences formed many of my early counseling skills, and continued to grow my heart towards counseling, styles of relating, and underlying wounds that drive behaviors. So, when the time was right, I got clinical training to provide mental health care, I knew it would be faith based and Courageous Hearts Counseling would be the name of the practice as this represents and honors the many women in these groups who have courageously shared their stories, taken risks toward freedom, and taught me what the books could not.
