About
I'm a pastoral counselor and psychotherapist and a KY Licensed Pastoral Counselor (KLPC). I have a Doctor of Ministry degree and work predominately with individuals from 18 years of age and beyond. My specialties include working with clients dealing with depression, sexual abuse (men and women), women's issues, depression, grief, anxiety, life transitions, and relational/couple issues. In addition, I also offer spiritual direction and life coaching. Since I am an ordained clergywoman, I use a spiritual/theological integrated approach to therapy and am experienced in working with a wide variety of religious beliefs, as well as working with clients who are questioning and even non-believers.
I helped to incorporate a local pastoral counseling center as well as a training consortium to prepare others to take the licensure exam for pastoral counselors. I spent over twenty-three years involved in those organizations. I have now been in private practice for over five years.
Why I Became a Pastoral Therapist
I tend to refer to myself as a late bloomer. After my first marriage ended in divorce I decided to raise my two children and further my education. I earned a B.S.W. prior to choosing to answer a call to ministry and moving to Louisville, KY. I attended seminary and was ordained as a clergywoman in 1988. I am affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. This was an outgrowth of my experiences helping people taking part in personal and spiritual growth opportunities offered through CREDO, Norfolk, VA and the U. S. Navy chaplains I worked with while there from 1980-1985. It was a time of renewal for me as I began to experience God as more loving and grace-filled than I had ever imagined. I have since remarried and we celebrated our 23rd anniversary, and my children are all grown and have their own families.
