About
Jennifer has been a practicing mental health therapist working with children, families, and couples since 2002. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University (2000) and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston State University (2002), Jennifer has spent her career working in private practice as well as within the public school setting as a counselor, and is now a Staff Counselor at Cypress Bible Church in addition to having her own private practice.
Jennifer is also a play therapist, with a fully appointed Play Therapy Room and also incorporates Sandtray Therapy in her work with older children and adults, when it is deemed a good client fit.
Jennifer is passionate about children and families, and because of this, is also passionate about couples, as a married couple serves as the essential foundation to the health and functionality of a family.
Operating from a Christ-Follower World View, Jennifer also incorporates the therapeutic interventions of Solution Focused Brief Therapy when working with adult clients. When working with children in the play room, her approach is fully Child-Centered. Married couples or couples who are engaged to be married can also benefit from the Prepare/Enrich counseling curriculum that Jennifer is a trained provider of. This program is best utilized when couples are engaged OR are desiring a "Marriage Tune-Up."
Life is difficult, but you don't have to walk it alone. A believer can take heart in knowing that they are sitting across from someone who has the same foundational belief system that they do, and recognizes Christ as the Savior and Creator of all and the Bible as God's Word.
My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice
I am a follower and believer in Christ Jesus and so thankful that I have a relationship with Him and know Him as my Savior.
In my work I also work with clients that are secular (or do not request faith to be brought into the therapeutic relationship), and my belief system is not able to be a part of the work that I do with those clients in respect of their individual belief systems. It is refreshing when I get the opportunity to incorporate Christ into my work with clients who are seeking help from a Christian Therapist because Jesus IS the answer, truly to everything we encounter, and when we invite Him into our troubles and traumas, He can and will move mountains in our spiritual and emotional lives.
