About
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who finds great joy in assisting people during trying times back into a healthier and happier life. I have a warm and non-judgmental approach that provides an opportunity to address both short and long term goals, crisis situations, and long-term underlying issues. I help my clients explore their past and how it is showing up in their present.
My Christian based approach incorporates Christian values into the therapeutic process. One of my goals is to help clients regain hope in their lives, understand themselves and God, and achieve a better understanding of their relationship with God.
I have a passion for working with all ages, races, cultures and orientations. My goal is to help individuals, couples and families to feel better in the present.
Through either the releasing of traumas or changing dysfunctional patterns my hope is to help them find healthier ways of communicating and regain the ability to live with themselves as well as others.
My work focuses on major issues including couples and families in crisis, intimacy issues, anxiety and depression, premarital counseling and grief, just to name a few.
Working with those struggling after trauma led me to become EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model) trained and BSP (Brainspotting) certified. I continued my education and became certified in Neuropsychotherapy, as well as became trained in Gottman Levels I & II.
“…be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” ~(NIV) 2 Chronicles 15:7
My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice
My journey of faith started at a young age. I grew up Catholic and enjoyed my catechism studies from first holy communion through confirmation. As an adult I enjoy nurturing my faith through the reading of scripture, prayer and bible studies. My close relationship with Christ has been my joy, my peace as well as my eternal compass.
I also understand that life can be really hard, making it more difficult to trust this. These times of struggle can really challenge our faith. We might find ourselves moving away from our Lord when we actually need to cleave to Him even more. My darkest moments have highlighted just this. I learned that my faith and trust in Him would be crucial in order for me to heal.
Walking this experience with my Christian based counselor is what led me to incorporate it into my own practice. Looking back, I find so much comfort noting His ever presence illuminating me along the way. The idea of "never alone" fills me with strength and the desire to persevere.
