_______________________________

Dr. Carr’s extensive background in doing secular therapy and as a Christian counselor has included working with clients with marriage, family and child issues. Her clients have been receptive to cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic techniques. She has worked mainly with the female population with the following issues:

- Self esteem
- stress
- anxiety
- depression
- trauma
- grief
- relational
- marital
- employment
- Life and career coaching

Prior to her retirement as a social worker, she worked with children and teens in the foster care system, and provided valuable counseling and coaching to parents in reconciling with their children. She also provided counseling with incarcerated youth and adults.

Dr. Carr has always had a heart of compassion, a
“mercy gift.“ As a social worker for more than 20 years in San Francisco and Contra Costa County, she has a vast amount of experience as a former child and family advocate, and a child protective services (CPS) social worker. She also worked as a medical social worker and served HIV/AIDS patients for 5 years prior to her retirement in 2013.

As a breast cancer survivor who has overcome many obstacles in life, Dr. Carr knows something about having strong faith in God. Dr. Carr is an encourager who motivates clients to focus on the things of God and their blessings and to have faith and stand on the Word of God while navigating through life. (1 Peter 5:10.)

Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist

People need hope and encouragement because life gets very hard at times. And although I’ve done secular therapy over the years, I’ve found that bringing in the spiritual aspect is even more rewarding especially for those who love God.

I love to see the client grow and be inspired to walk with God through the valleys and stormy seas of life. I encourage my clients and give them tools that build their faith, yet give them the space to feel safe in this judgment free zone.
