Hi there! I'm Elizabeth Hester, LPC, Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and follower of Jesus. My passion is in helping couples, which is why I am here to help you both through utilizing emotionally focused couples therapy (EFCT). EFCT is an evidenced based practice and helps couples get back into secure intimate connection through understanding what truly underlines the reactions you see in each other in moments of disconnect, which leads to gaining opportunities to heal wounds and restore intimacy. EFCT is not just about improved communication, but it’s about creating a secure attachment, which produces healthier communication. Through the experience of emotionally focused couples therapy, new ways of communicating become sustainable because you will understand the underlying causes for the negative patterns in your relationship, and you will get to know what blocks you both from being able to hear each other and share clearly with one another. Through this process you can rebuild a secure connection with your partner and get to know the unique needs both you and your partner need, as well as learn how to ask for what you need in a way that sends clear signals to your partner. Having a healthy relationship requires that there is emotional safety, meaning that when two people reach for each other, there is trust in knowing that you are accessible and available to each other. EFCT helps to rebuild security and fosters compassion, grace, acceptance and forgiveness in significant relationships. As a Christian I love partnering with the Holy Spirit as we walk out this journey together to heal and restore your relationship, and make your attachment and relationship with God relevant in sessions.
Why I Became a Professional Christian Therapist
I believe that a healthy marital relationship is meant to be a reflection of Christ's love for His bride. When marital relationships are healthy they can have huge impact on the people and communities around us in drawing them closer to being in loving relationship with the Lord. I believe in the reality of spiritual warfare and how that can impact our mental health and relationships. Because of my own life experiences I live out in faith believing for restoration in families and marriages because I trust in the redemptive nature of our Lord and Savior. I feel incredibly honored that the Lord has invited me along into his mission for restoring families and marriages. I rest on Isaiah 43:19 that He is indeed doing a new thing!
