About
I received my Master's Degree in Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary. I worked in an international para-church organization for 25 years in campus ministry in the United States as well as overseas. I also was involved in leadership, talent, and team development in missions. I provided counseling for our overseas missionaries as well as briefing and debriefing events. For 6 years I was a part-time counseling at a Christian college in New York, New York while also maintaining my private practice.
I am now offering telehealth therapy in Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida. I work mostly with men, while seeing adults of all ages. I offer EMDR, emotion focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and other modalities.
To summarize my therapeutic approach in one sentence would be: "Moving you to have a healthy relationship with your thoughts and emotions so you stop judging yourself harshly and begin viewing yourself fairly."
My Christian Faith and My Professional Practice
As I sit with clients, I listen to their story through the Christian theology that we are created by a Trinitarian God. I consider their God-given longings, and being created for relationships. As appropriate, I encourage clients to see God a a grieving God- not just grieving over their sin, but grieving with them over their hurts, losses, and pain.
Throughout my session I am listening to my clients, to the Holy Spirit, and to my gut simultaneously.
