About

PRACTICE
I provide pastoral counseling and spiritually integrated psychotherapy to individuals, marriage couples, families, and groups; to adults and children. Much of my work is with trauma, marriage, family, self-esteem, depression, anger, anxiety, suicide prevention, grief, and spiritual issues.

My clients come from many Christian denominations and various religions. For 35 years I was a missionary, international professor, and counselor. I lived or traveled in 80 countries on all 7 continents and have extensive, broad, deep experience with numerous cultures in many types of activity, work and study.

I believe every human being is created in the image of God and of tremendous worth. In a professional manner I bring the insights, theories, tools and practices of the social sciences and Christian theology to bear on issues causing distress to those who are in pain in order to help them fulfill the wholeness of their unique personhood and to reduce what blocks satisfaction of their needs.

I take an eclectic, multi-disciplinary approach to counseling utilizing as needed the insights and methods of most major therapies. I rely heavily on psychodynamics, cognitive behavior therapy and family systems.

I believe that healing happens along the lines of relationship, hence I bring myself - who I am and my own life experiences as a person - into an empathic, non-judgmental, accepting, therapeutic alliance with the person(s) seeking help.
